During our review of 2009, Regional managers suggested that we hit the issue of contamination in the TGID Newsletter ... so here it is !!! We insert a sheet of paper in each order of Watt-Flex® cartridge heaters that contains warnings and instructions for the use of the heaters. Part of that page is as follows:
Maybe as much as 40% of the heaters returned to Dalton Electric Heating Co. for contamination analysis have some type of anti-seize or heat transfer compound in the terminal area. Often it has worked its way into the MgO insulation and is the reason for the failure. The expansion of our split sheath will take care of the heat transfer most effectively and the contraction when de-energized will eliminate bore seizure and any need for an anti-seize material. As far as process contamination, we begin by asking the customer to be aware of any dripping or spraying and attempt to circumvent it. We take the attitude that, if a heater is returned to us and the customer maintains that there is not much that he can do to avoid contamination, it is our responsibility to try to accommodate the application and block the ability of the contaminate to enter the heater. Talk with your sales contact at Dalton and we will go the distance for you !!!
Friday Funnies Random Thoughts ... Nothing is more terrible than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger. There is great need for a sarcasm font. How in heaven's name are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet? Was learning cursive really necessary? Map Quest really needs to start their directions on #5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood.
