Exactly!!!

Customers occasionally have application requirements that restrict the length of a heater. It may be another surface close to the production workpiece being heated, or a wiring channel that is very demanding. So they will require a more exacting length than our standard tolerance of +/-3% up to 20" of length and +/-2% for heaters greater than 20"

To achieve this with a Watt-Flex® cartridge heater, we must go through a hand trimming process, cutting the heater to the required length. Of course in the world of machined products, there is no such thing as exact" ... all products have toleraces. In this case, the "exact length Dalton heater carries a tolerance of +/- 1/16"

The Dalton design requires that the terminal pin be embedded into the compacted Magnesium Oxide for stability. If the terminal end of the heater and terminal pin must be reduced, an increased cold at the terminal end must accompany the design to ensure that the pin is deep enough in the heater. If you have an exact length requirement, please contact the Dalton office for design considerations.
