Last week we discussed the process of securing referrals from different sources and working a system of Word-of-Mouth marketing. But referrals and recommendations go cold quickly and it is important to capitalize on them. One necessary function in this process is the implementation of a contact management database which allows you to capture and track your referral leads.

Move on them quickly !!! As soon as you receive the referral or hear that you have been recommended, make a call and/or appointment to follow it up. Professionalism and respect in your approach to the prospect are important, since you don't want your referring source to regret helping you and your company. And don't forget to personally thank and update your referral source.

A great way to motivate existing customers to refer your business is to offer them a special discount or send them a gift certificate to a restaurant when a prospect becomes a client. Take full advantage of your existing customers and other referral sources by recognizing this valuable asset to you and your company.
