Industry Week sent an email regarding an available e-book from Siemens that discusses alignment of product and process design: http://penton.ebookhost.net/iw/siemens/1/?linkcode=NLIT1Btop It runs about 25 pages and gets into some reasonably technical issues and techniques. Fortunately, aligning Dalton Electric's Watt-Flex® cartridge heaters with our process design is a bit easier than the Siemens e-book suggests. Product lifecycle Management (PLM) for a robotic function is a bit more complicated than that of a cartridge heater.

Generally, the way a salesman effectively designs a heater to match the process design is to get out on the production floor. When standing right in front of an application, it is easy to spec the length of the leads, recognize heat sink or insulation factors that will affect heater performance and the appropriate length of heater to accommodate a tolerance factor.
![]() Identifying a potential bore seizure issue or a contamination potential will aid in the specification process. Every time that we see an application, we see new things that help us make the best decision for our customer. Asking to see the application on the floor only helps all involved.
Friday Funnies Walking up to a department store's fabric counter, the pretty girl said, "I would like to buy this material for a new dress. How much does it cost?" "Only one kiss per yard," replied the male clerk with a smirk. "That's fine," said the girl. "I'll take ten yards." With expectation and anticipation written all over his face, the clerk quickly measured out the cloth, wrapped it up, then teasingly held it out. The girl snapped up the package, pointed to the old geezer standing beside her, and smiled, "Grandpa will pay the bill."
