An Unused Opportunity
Last week we discussed quantity variance on orders.
One of the by-products of a
tough Quality program is that which we call Overrun. When we plan
a production
run for a twenty heater order, for example, we will anticipate
a maximum probable
loss and begin with a larger quantity to insure we can ship the
order complete. If
the production run goes well (as they almost always do), we will
have an overrun
of one, two or five heaters.
These cartridge heaters are held as inventory in their base form:
with pins extending from
the heater for termination. In this condition any length and temperature
rated leads
can be installed, along with any Watt-Flex® heater accessory.
This allows for great flexibility
in a very short production time.
At
present, there are over 5,000 cartridge heaters in inventory, both
overrun and OEM heaters.
They are generally supplied with next-day delivery, with no
set-up charges and in
whatever quantity requested (no minimums). Eventually, we see
this inventory
on our website with exclusive access by distributors, but for
now, it simply takes
a phone call to check to see if it is in stock. This is a tremendously
under-used
asset that can serve to get Watt-Flex heaters in a customer's
hand quickly and
conveniently.
