Hidden Costs

Many customers assume that there are certain costs that accompany the use of cartridge heaters. And other times, they are like the Cheshire Cat in Alice's Wonderland ... someone has to point out the smile.

The price of our Watt-Flex® cartridge heater is often higher than a conventional cartridge, but your customer is assuming costs that far exceed any savings from buying a cheaper heater. I was talking to a distributor yesterday who is enthused about a customer placing another order. He used to buy heaters on a very regular basis, sometimes from the distributor, often times from another distributor in a search of a better heater.

Last time the customer called, the distributor talked him into trying Watt-Flex® cartridge heaters. When the customer called again to place an order for a new press, the distributor asked how the Dalton heaters were doing. The customer related that they were alive and well and had doubled the life of any other cartridge heater (so far).

The savings that they realized by switching to our heaters were immediately realized in production efficiency, saved maintenance time and elimination of damage to the bores. And he already enjoys a tremendous reduction in the number of heaters that he buys per year.

We can't emphasize enough the importance of helping your customer to understand the Cost of Heating !!!

Friday Funnies

So this guy moves to Oregon from Massachusetts, where the winters are brutal but the sun often shines - and for the first month he's there, it rains. And rains. You know the stuff. That solid, unremitting, bone-chilling, soul-sogging Oregon rain that turns the whole word gray and acts as if it'll never stop. The kind of rain that makes you realize you haven't seen a shadow in weeks, and this guy is flipping out.

He's waiting for a bus one day with a clean-cut youngster, both huddling in the shelter as the rain pelts the roof.

Finally, he can't stand it. "Hey kid," he growls, "is it always like this?"

"Gosh, sir, I don't know," the boy answers. "I'm only 17!"
