Simple Sales Lessons. . .Part II

Customers Know They Are Customers: Prospective Dalton Electric customers and clients are more savvy than ever, and view most sales pitches with suspicion. The potential customer knows full well what you are there for. Rather than going stealth and trying to mask your purpose, use self-deprecating humor in a sales pitch that will simultaneously makes your intentions clear while disarming and putting at ease your prospects.

Nothing is More Valuable Than a Good Referral: Your satisfied customers know and trust your judgement and commitment. They are aware of the success you bring with your products and your counsel. Ask them for referrals ... they know their industry and may disclose competitors that use the same processes. Or they may be familiar with other industry applications ... everyone has worked somewhere else first !!! And ask if you can use their name as a matter of introduction if a specific contact is mentioned ... your customer will be flattered that he can be of help to you. A single satisfied customer can be one of your richest sources of valuable referrals.

A Good Salesperson Does More Than Sell: Effective salespeople are successful because they know that people buy from people. Hold up your end of the bargain by delivering outstanding service, keep your promises, go above and beyond to exceed expectations and, perhaps most important, continue to be a good listener.

An old man goes to the Wizard to ask him if he can remove a curse he has been living with for the last 40 years.

The Wizard says, 'Maybe, but you will have to tell me the exact words that were used to put the curse on you.'

The old man says without hesitation, 'I now pronounce you man and wife.'

The graveside service just barely finished, when there was massive clap of thunder, followed by a tremendous bolt of lightning, accompanied by even more thunder rumbling in the distance...

The little old man looked at the pastor and calmly said, 'Well, she's There.'
