Heat Distribution
Distribution of wattage in a heater is science and completely repeatable. Appropriate distribution of heat for an application is more of an art form. We are handed a variety of descriptions for "zoning" or designing heat distribution that can be as simple as "put 10% more heat on the ends of the heater."
There are simply two variables: the length of each segment and a measure of wattage in the segment. So, on a 48" heater, we could bump the wattage for 3" on either end or for 16' on each end, establishing three equal lengths. And we can put a variety of watt densities in each segment. The specification that we must receive to be effective is specific lengths of each segment and total wattage per section. A substitute for total wattage can be the watt density for each section or the percentage of wattage
to establish a ratio between zones.

Effectiveness in designing a distribution is largely dependent on the information about the application that is received at Dalton Electric. Specific temperature profile with measurements at frequent intervals will be very helpful in configuring a compensating distribution of wattage. Friday Funnies
One fine day, Jim and Bob are out golfing. Jim slices his ball deep into a wooded ravine. He grabs his 8-iron and proceeds down the embankment into the ravine in search of his ball. The brush is quite thick, but Jim searches diligently and suddenly he spots something shiny. As he gets closer, he realizes that the shiny object is in fact an 8-iron in the hands of a dead man with a golf ball at his feet.
Jim calls out to his golfing partner in an agitated voice, "Hey Bob, come here, I got trouble down here." Bob comes running over to the edge of the ravine and calls out,
"What's the matter Jim?"
Jim shouts back, "Throw me my 7-iron! You can't get out of here with an 8."
