The October 2007 issue of Process Heating contains an article entitled "Cartridge Heater Considerations" written by Eli Whitney. This article discusses all facets of the use of cartridge heaters and is written as a generic discussion including conventional and split-sheath heaters.

Oct 2007 Process Heating Magazine Features Cartridge Heaters

It looks at application factors that impact the performance and life of a cartridge and suggests a variety of ways to reduce or eliminate these issues to contribute to longer life. Of course, it is difficult to write an article about cartridge heaters without expounding on the many benefits of our split-sheath design.

The article discusses fit in the bore vs. expansion of the split sheath heater, elimination of bore seizure and the external thermocouple, as well as other favorable design byproducts of Watt-Flex.

Bob Wheatons 20 yer celebration at Dalton Bob Wheaton Cuts the Cake
Bob received a beautiful wall clock for his home with a gold plate celebrating 20 years of great service. Bob has been an ideal employee over the years, working principally in the fill room, providing internal insulation for Watt-Flex® cartridge heaters. Bob finished his celebration by cutting a tremendous cake, which was gone by the end of the day.
20 Year Anniversary Clock Congratulations, Bob!

Friday Funnies

Why females should avoid girls' night out after they are married:

The other night I was invited out for a night with 'the girls.' I told my husband that I would be home by midnight. 'I promise' were my last words.

Well, the hours passed and the margaritas went down way too easy. Around 3:00 am and a bit loaded, we piled into a cab and headed for our respective homes. Just as I got through the door, the cuckoo clock in the hall started up and cuckooed 3 times.

Realizing my husband would probably wake up, I quickly cuckooed another 9 times. I was particularly proud of myself for coming up with such a quick-witted solution to cover up my tardiness. (Even when totally smashed...3 cuckoos plus 9 cuckoos
totals 12 cuckoos....MIDNIGHT).

The next morning my husband asked me what time I got in, and I told him midnight. He didn't raise an eyebrow and continued to read the morning paper. Whew! Got away with that one!!

Then he said, 'I think we might need a new cuckoo clock.'

When I asked him why, he said, 'Well, last night our clock cuckooed three times, then said, 'uh, oh,' cuckooed 4 more times, cleared its throat, cuckooed another 3 times, giggled, cuckooed twice more, then tripped over the coffee table and burped.
