On the Long Side

Last week we looked at our newest addition: 1/4 x 1" And you have to know the question that was asked: "What about your longest heaters?" Inside folks are fond of saying, "read the catalog !!!" But we will elaborate today.

Swaging very long heaters can be a real workout for a single operator and the process sometimes requires two. We have a variety of MgO compaction processes now and the varying maximum lengths reflect these different methods. Our 1/2" diameter carries a maximum length which is pretty inflexible. 5/8" diameter is 70", 11/16" diameter is 64" and 3/4" diameter heaters jump to 90". This dimension also has some flexibility and we have produced 104" long heaters.

Seen here, our 6 foot Sales Manager, David Fanning, pales in comparison while standing next to these two heaters. If you have particularly long heaters, talk with your Regional Manager or a Dalton Electric engineer regarding what exceptions are practical.
