New Years Resolutions
Generally speaking, I find that a New Years resolution is something that goes in one year and out the other. I have a friend who advocates resolutions that he can be sure to keep over the year: Watch more T.V. (I've been missing the good stuff), procrastinate more, start being superstitious, fill out a bit (weight gain) ... success is very important
to this individual.
But I like to take a bit more optimistic approach. I'm the kind of person that stays up until midnight to see the New Year in. My friend stays up to make sure the old year goes out. Every year I plan a New Year's Lunch with a very dear friend (a different person), in fact, he is the guy that manages this website of Dalton. He is very bright, intellectual and contemplative and can quickly poke holes in any plans that I come up with. So I have to be very careful and a bit clever with my resolutions.
I'll give him an advance look and hope that he can't find too much fault. I resolve to:
1) Buy one sandwich at the regular price, get one drink free.
2) Save money on medical expenses. Schedule my physical at pediatrician's office.
3) Never wear tank tops in public.
4) Be more romantic with my life partner at the right times.
5) Spend more time with my grown children (if they will allow me to do so)
6) Slow down as I drive by the gym on the way to get ice cream - out of respect.
7) Quit asking Google where I put my car keys.
8) Eat three completely healthy meals (sometime during each week)
9) Keep the resolutions that I have for other people to myself.
And, with that, I sign off for 2006. We, at Dalton Electric, all hope that your New Year is filled with health, happiness and success.
